Zuidas, the Manhattan of the Netherlands. The high-rise buildings cast a shadow on the flat centuries-old cityscape of Amsterdam. Since the arrival of the ABN-AMRO headquarters in 1999, the Zuidas has steadily grown into the prime location it is today. Among the many office buildings, mainly residential towers are now being built.
The most impressive project in the Zuidas is perhaps the Valley, the mountainous building with irregular shapes on the foreground above. View the architect’s article on my Minecraft recreation of The Valley here.
